These butterflies were dancing for me today at the lake. No lie. When they are nervous their wings are up, when they relax they go down.

More Butterflies
Today there were really cool butterflies about 20 feet from where I was and they were through a bunch of undergrowth so I couldn't get to them, and I only had my kit lens. I was pretty impressed at the quality when I did some cropping to bring them in closer. Isn't mother nature beautiful??!!!

Tuesdays with Val. Coming soon . . . Wednesdays with Val.
On Tuesdays, Val and I go out on our lunch hour and take pictures. Today, Val's idea was the bridge going from Kenova into Ashland. We were standing on the car bridge and a train came across the other bridge. You can almost see the water under the bridge.
I couldn't get her to look up, but I like the picture anyway!

Sometimes Mother Nature isn't so pretty . . .
Jeff and I made a quick trip out to the lake yestrday evening. I took my camera and hoped that I would see something interesting. Jeff thinks the bird in these pictures is a kingfisher. I had seen them before and thought they were very interesting. This guy sat in the tree for about 20 minutes. Close up he is not so pretty. When I zoomed in on some of the pictures I had taken he has a green snake hanging out of his mouth. He must have caught him on the edge of the lake and then flown up into the tree to eat him. Gag. Now I think they are vulgar.

All About Bees
The new camera is here!!! I went outside at the office today on my lunch hour to see what I could find. If you know me, you know I have a huge bee phobia. I did a lot of jumping around while I was taking these pictures. I was zoomed in and when they flew it looked like they were coming right at me. I survived though :)

Rosey
My favorite thing to take pictures of is my grandbabies. Rosey let me take some pics of her this weekend. I think that she is so absolutely beautiful with her red hair and blue eyes (and freckles!) that you don't notice all the flaws in my photography. Here are some of my favorites from last Saturday . . .

Just Getting Started . . .
Okay . . . here goes. I'm going to think of this as my diary until I get comfortable actually doing a blog. I'm going to pretend that nobody will ever see this . . . and that might be true! I have ordered a new camera that will be here in two days!!! I'm really excited and want to have a spot where I can "record" what I see through the lens. Below are a couple of pics of butterflies - one was on my Mom's rhododendron bush in Summersville and the other one was on a bush at the McDonald's in Smithers, WV. (BTW - Are lip piercings a requirement to live in Smithers?)
